1999 Conejo Creek Master Plan

Why is CRPD doing this?

The Conejo Creek West and Northwest Parks were last master-planned in 1999. The District seeks to understand how the community's needs and interests have evolved over the past 25 years and would like to assess and explore suitable and desirable recreational uses at the facility. An assessment of the park facilities, with comprehensive input from the public, will allow CRPD to evaluate the community's needs and determine whether new or renovated amenities are required to meet those needs.

What will the project look like and how much will the project cost? How is CRPD going to pay for this project?

The project scope and cost are unknown at this time. As the project program develops, CRPD will explore future funding opportunities.

If the park facilities undergo a major renovation or rebuild, what will happen to daily use and programs?

At this early stage of the process, information about specific use and program impacts is not available. CRPD will make great efforts to minimize disruption to programming and patrons. CRPD will gather and distribute information as soon as it becomes available and relevant in the process. CRPD will coordinate with our community groups (Dog Park community, Las Flores Community Garden, and Equestrian Trails Incorporated Corral #37) to minimize disruption as necessary.

What is the timeline for the project?

CRPD is in the early stages of the community outreach process and anticipates presenting information to the community as it becomes available. Refer to the TIMELINE tab for detailed information.

Conejo Creek West

The nearly 50-acre property was acquired in 1972 and, over time, has become a popular Districtwide public park with unique amenities, including the Conejo Creek Dog Park, Las Flores Community Garden, and Conejo Creek Equestrian Park. The 3.5-acre dog park, a special facility designed for the benefit and enjoyment of our community's dogs and their human families, opened in June 2001. The park has two separate sections, one for small dogs (30 lbs. and under) and the other for large dogs (more than 30 lbs.). Las Flores Community Garden, an over 2-acre community garden with rentable garden plots, was opened in October 2000. The public equestrian facility features a main arena and several smaller arenas and pens. The facility is maintained by Equestrian Trails, Inc. (ETI) Corral 37, who have added amenities for our local equestrians over the years.

Conejo Creek Northwest

The approved 1999 Conejo Creek Park Master Plan designates the site as a neighborhood park. The 7.5-acre currently undeveloped site would include a large open natural turf area, a multi-purpose court, sand volleyball court, restroom, a small parking lot, and multi-use pathways.
